Firefly Event Design is South Florida’s premier wedding planning and coordination firm.

Proprietor Dawn Yap wanted the website to reflect Firefly’s unique and romantic slogan “Capturing Your Light and Making You Shine.”

Other requirements included:

1) A contact form where brides could inquire about wedding planning services and allow Firefly to capture some up-front information.

2) A gallery of recent events that the staff at firefly could update and maintain themselves.

3) A testimonials page that could also be updated in date order by the staff as new testimonials come in.

Fallen Sky used the muted pinks and browns lifted right off the images in Firefly’s existing brochure to create a subtle soft and romantic feel.  In order to showcase some of the lavishly beautiful weddings Firefly has produced, Fallen Sky created a flash gallery and also a flash header that fades new images in and out subtly on all of the pages except the homepage where Dawn wanted to keep the look uniform.

The result? Firefly has seen the inquiries from its website jump over 100% since the redesign, making this a true success story!

Charmed & Dangerous is new vintage style charm jewelry line that just launched in November 2006. In order to launch in time for the Christmas 2006 shopping season, they needed a website. But before that, they needed complete corporate identity creation from a logo to business cards to signage.

Their logo needed to embody their product line that features charm necklaces in unusual combinations of naughty and nice, such as birds with skulls and hearts with guns. Fallen sky created a logo that uses the zodaic symbol of Gemini (the twins) to convey the duality of the jewelry designs. The use of the sword and the tattoo inspired banner is at odds with the heart backdrop, again reinforcing the sweet and sassy nature of the line.

The logo became the inspiration and the jumping off point for the Charmed and Dangerous online store, the myspace page and the blog.

Fallen Sky created a corporate identity (logo), designed and built their ecommerce website, blog and also customized their myspace page.

But we didn’t just stop there! Fallen Sky added a google sitmap generator, posted products to social shopping networks and added MSN Live & Google Base product feeds.

The result? In just under 3 months, Charmed & Dangerous achieved an almost unheard of PR 4 in google and is ranking in the top 10 of every major search engine for their target keywords!

Hookmarks is a retailer of hook-shaped bookmarks. But they also have a thriving B2B division where they sell larger quantities of custom bookmarks to businesses and organizations to use as promotional products. 

Fallen Sky designed and built the gift bookmark retail ecommerce site and created a separate microsite for their custom bookmarks business where they could showcase the logo bookmarks they have created as well as accept “request for quotes” for custom projects.

The quote system works similar to a shopping cart where a customer adds the item they want a quote on to their “request for quote” just like they would add items to a shopping cart.  They indicate the type and quantity they are interested in as well as their contact information and then they “send the quote.”

The hookmarks staff receives an email with all of the relevant information and can contact the potential client with an accurate quote for their custom bookmark project given the exact options they have expressed interest in.  

Fallen Sky also created a Hookmarks blog and a Hookmarks MySpace page as a place where Hookmarks could showcase new products and interact with their customer base.

The results? The retail site has doubled their traffic every year since going live and the custom bookmark section was an instant success when it launched two years later. Now they are receiving on average 5 requests for quotes per day, each of which represents a potential large wholesale order!

The Myspace page has also been a big traffic generator, allowing Hookmarks to connect with a huge audience of booklovers, authors and librarians who might not otherwise have ever heard of them.

My poor friend Tracy was having such a hard time getting her invitations printed, she had chosen a design from Bella Figura, a seemingly reputable letterpress printer. When they stopped answer their phones or returning her calls, I offered to do the design work if she could find a local NYC printer. We were in a big rush to get the design files to the printer, and in the meantime Tracy and her Fiance Mike were at their engagement party in Charlotte and we were doing all of our communications by email.. not that that is any excuse.
